Medical genetics is becoming increasingly relevant for many common diseases. Overlaps with other medical specialties are beginning to emerge, as recent advances in genetics are revealing etiologies for neurological, endocrine, cardiovascular, pulmonary, ophthalmological, renal, psychiatric and dermatological diseases.
