Book excerpt: This paper examines the effects of globalization on the United States' Defense Industrial Base (DIB). It provides an operational net assessment and offers an analysis of the center of gravity of the US DIB in terms of globalization. The critical vulnerability determined by the center of gravity analysis is education. Further review of this vulnerability determined that intellectual capital is the key component of education. Several recommendations are offered to mitigate and maintain domestic intellectual capital superiority.
