The Directory for 1878 contains names, which, according to our method of computing populations, would give the city inhabitants, an increase Of over 1877. This showing is rather gratifying, when we take into consideration the general depression Of business throughout the country, which has caused so many removals from less favored places. Fort Wayne, While she has held her own in this respect, has furnished employment for many who were compelled to leave other places. A comparison Of the names contained in the Directory from year to year, shows fewer changes in proportion to the number of inhabitants in Fort Wayne than in many other cities.
