The chief early cro s are spiked millet or be ri mixed with the hardy tar and early In iau millet or °vairi. Hese are sown in late May or in June on the first so cient rainfall. In good ears they ripen in late September and October; in bad years not ti 1 November. When the early crops are reaped in September and where the land permits, a second or duscia crop is raised. As, after October, rain rarely falls in the hilly west, except a little wheat grown on the eastern fringe, the late or rabi dry-crop harvest is of comparatively little im ortance.
