Book excerpt: Gabriel Purdy (1721-1803) of the 4th generation was the son of Samuel Purdy (1685-1753) of the 3rd generation and (1) Clorinda Penelope Strang, the daughter of Daniel and Charlotte LeMaistre Strang of White Planes, New York. He was Captain of a Loyalist Company. He married Bethia Miller (1728-1809), daughter of Anthony Miller and Hannah Ganung. He moved his family to Annapolis, MD in 1784. They were the parents of eleven children. He died at Digby, Nova Scotia and was buried in the Parish of Clements Cemetery at Clementsport. Several generations of ancestors and descendants are given.
