The primary purpose of this project is to study the methods both new and old used by farmers in harvesting and curing hay to deter mine (1) the relationships between the principal methods of haymaking and efficiency in terms of investment in equipment, cash outlay, time required to complete he job, use of family labor, quality of hay, etc., and (2) the changes farmers are planning to make in their haying practices and equipment as a result of their experiences and recent developments in haying machines and mechanical power. This report describes three methods used in putting up hay in southeastern Nebraska and compares the three from the viewpoint of rela tive costs, labor inputs, investment, and time required for haying.
