Book excerpt: On the Far Side of the Sea is not your typical book of poetry. This is a devotional book (or a journal) of poetry written between myself and God. I asked God to deliver me from the bondage of my past through writing. This book was born one summer when the Holy Spirit guided me to Psalm 139. I felt God urged me to memorize it. While doing so, I was blessed beyond measure. One particular verse touched me deeply, Psalm 139:9b-10 (NIV), "If I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast". I believe God showed me; even on the far side of the sea (when we feel lost) he is with us. His "right hand" refers to his guidance. So even when we are lost, he is with us. What a wonderful comfort to know the Great Shepherd keeps his eyes upon us no matter how far we feel from him! If you are in love with the Psalms from the Old Testament, you will enjoy this modern day version of one soul crying out to God in writing.
