Book excerpt: A survey of 61 cutblocks planted since 1964 evaluated stocking of conifers (trees 1 foot tall or taller) on 2-milacre quadrats. Overall stocking percentage averaged 42.2 and ranged from 15 to 8 1. Overall number of trees per acre . averaged 396. In the regression model, based on 36 cutblocks, better stocking was associated with high site class, northerly aspect, elevation below 3000 feet, and tractor (rather than cable) logging. Stocking tended to increase with increasing age of plantation, but decreased with increasing size of cutblocks.
