Book excerpt: Excerpt from Triennial Record of the Class of 1901, Sheffield Scientific School, Yale University The Triennial was a success. Every one present was in it from start to finish. Class spirit was present with every man and several had enough to loan others who stayed away through lack of it. This book is supposed to chronicle the events, to re-instill the enthusiasm, and to spread among us the informa tion of our classmates which we were unable to glean by questioning on the balconies of the Tontine. As a whole the 'class have responded very well to the various appeals of the Secretary, and if data is missing about any man it is only because every effort possible has proved of no avail to procure from him any response. In some cases this is due to wrong addresses, and at other times it is merely lack of inter est in the man himself, but as he is himself the greatest sufferer, he will probably next time mend his ways. The Secretary would like to take this opportunity to thank a number who have helped in gathering the information and in a financial way, for these few have made it possible to pro duce a book more worthy of the best triennial ever celebrated in New Haven. To Southard Hay he is also greatly indebted, not only for adding to the material of the book at hand, but also for his untiring devotion to the cause whenever a request, large or small, was thrust upon him. If there is any man in our Class or any other who has the interest of his class more at heart, it has never been the pleasure of your Secretary to meet him.
