After a brief chronology of Newman's life, the book is divided into three distinct parts. Part I compiles eleven reviews and interviews that provide a view into Newman's career from 1970 to 1989. The reviews present highlights of his career as a performer and a composer, while the interviews give readers further insight into the origins of his interpretations of classical music. Part II is a collection of seven personal reflections written by Newman's friends and colleagues, in which each person imparts their respect for Newman's talent, works, and life in general. The final part supplies readers with seven of Newman's own writings that capture his thoughts and ideas about music and his own personal style of performing, along with musical scores illustrating his interpretations. Also included are his repertoire, an annotated discography, a listing of his compositions, and a listing of his publications as appendices.
