Book excerpt: This report presents a cost analysis of Dimethyl Carbonate (DMC) production from ethylene carbonate and methanol. The process examined is a typical transesterification process. In this process, ethylene carbonate and methanol are converted into dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and ethylene glycol in a reactive distillation column and purified DMC is obtained through an extractive distillation.
