For this purpose the economy is divided into five independent sectors: the war effort, the agricultural output, the industrial output, the transportation capacity, and government non-defense expenditures. Each of these sectors is expressed as a linear function of specific political and economic variables of interest and a multiple stepwise regression analysis performed to determine the effect of these specific variables on the individual economic sectors.
