Book excerpt: "The primary purpose of this research is to examine cross-cultural communication factors that occur in African immigrant small business in the Twin Cities, Minnesota area and to use this information to create a better communication environment. The research takes a two-pronged approach: it examines differences occurring in communication on a personal, as well as on a business level. On the personal level, several areas are examined including looking at the reasons why immigrants come to the United States and researches reasons that motivate them to live and work in the United States. On the business level, the study reviews in detail the context in which immigrants do business and looks at some of the problems they face from an information and business process perspective."--Leaf 16.
