It's Far from Perfect - but I've enjoyed writing these stories and I hope that you enjoy - if not all - then some of these works!Descriptions of the stories:"A Chance Encounter" - A contest entry with the following rules: Write a story under 200 words, based on a picture of a young woman standing on a rock before a vast ocean."The Adjusters" - another contest entry, back in 2015, for a Super-hero story. I think it started out well, but then I made the mistake of rushing it so I could make the deadline. I'm including it, as-is, because it might be amusing and/or serve as a cautionary tale to not rush a story."The App" - I wrote this flash fiction for a local art project called "Art En Route". I worked with a graphic artist (which is good -- because I'm lucky if I can draw a stick figure that for which children won't laugh at me. Don't ask - it's happened!). I'm deeply honored that Alex and Yusi chose me for this project: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ArtEnRoute/. Also should be available via "Art En Route Project 2016-8" -- Madison, WI USA."Boil" - my first foray into "second-person" POV."Domesticated" - I like this story, but I know it's far from perfect. I might rewrite it someday. I wrote it after I lost my "little Panther", Zaria. She died in my arms. Pets are family and greatly I miss her, and my tiger and eternal buddy Chewie."Dusk Set on a Dead World" - this was a Locked Room Mystery contest. The rules were thatthe main character had a sensory handicap, and couldn't be set on Earth. It was a difficult, but fun, challenge to write this story! I realize it's inherently silly, but I liked the end result."Final Night in Poteski" - I entered this story into a contest. While I didn't win, this piece was selected as a Judge's favorite. My favorite folk singers have been Harry Chapin, Jim Croce and Jim Sullivan. Please check out their music. Jim Croce: http://jimcroce.com/; Harry Chapin: http://www.harrychapinmusic.com/; Jim Sullivan: https://lightintheattic.net/releases/502-u-f-o"The First Last Day of Third Grade" - this is part of an upcoming novel. I focused on Barry Welmer, with whom I strongly identify. When I changed schools, my first day of third grade ended with bullies humiliating me and experiencing the ostracization of my classmates. In many ways, I'm like Barry and luckily, I made other choices."The Magic Piano", circa-1988 - my first story, aside from a blatant ripoff of "Back to the Future" in 6th grade. I submitted this to Mankato State University. Much to my surprise and joy, I won a Talent Grant, which cemented my decision to go to MSU."Minutes of Narration" - another excerpt from the sequel to "No More Weekends". I see what could be a dark future for the human race. I hope I'm wrong."No More Weekends" - after 13+ years, I took up writing again. I wrote it because I see a potential dark future for America. Or, hopefully...I'm just being paranoid."Or Current Resident" - another experiment in 2nd person POV."Radio is Not Dead" - I've always been a fan of old-time radio. I entered this into a contest on "The Next Big Writer" and won -- yay!"Rejection Notices" - The way I often feel that I'll always get rejection notices. Regardless - I'll keep writing - because I enjoy it! Maybe I shouldn't have called it this - it got rejected across the board :P
