Book excerpt: Recent compilation of all gravity and magnetic anomaly data for offshore and eastern Canada provides an unprecedented perspective on the geological framework of the region. Classification of the region by similarities in the patterns and trends of gravity and magnetic data observed at a scale of 1:5,000,000 indicates geological affinities within structural provinces and tectonic relationships between geological domains. This report examines the correlation between the potential field data and regional geology, and provides a key to the published results and current research on regional structure as interpreted using the available geophysical and geological information.
