From the moment he joined our family he began to instruct us, beginning with a valuable lesson on starting over and learning to love again after the devastating loss of our previous dog. Over the years he would also lend his wisdom to me as I suffered the loss of the job I was planning to retire from and where all of my closest friends still worked, navigated various health challenges with aging family members, and just generally helped me learn to roll with the changes that had become the new norm for my once very stable life. I have always felt that our dogs model some of Gods finest characteristics, such as selflessness and humility, better than many humans, and Brinkley certainly taught me a lot about these traits.
