There, Rosa and her family hope to find gold and make their fortune. They plan to only be gone for a couple weeks, returning rich, but their short adventure does not go as intended. Unforeseeable events lead them to life in a small oil town in West Texas. Through their difficulties and daily obstacles, Rosa and her traditional Mexican family learn American culture.
