Book excerpt: "This report discusses the results from a survey of employers in the North Platte area titled the Southwest Nebraska Survey of Hiring and Training Needs. This study was conducted by the Nebraska Department of Labor (NDOL) in collaboration with the Nebraska Department of Economic Development (NDED) and the Bureau of Business Research (BBR) at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln (UNL). The Southwest Nebraska Survey of Hiring and Training Needs was designed to gather detailed information on the hiring and training needs and priorities of North Platte area businesses. Specifically, information was gathered from employers about the types of occupations they are searching for and hiring; the types of degrees, certifications, and skills that occupations require; and the types of training they provide. The North Platte survey area included all or parts of 11 counties in the southwest region of Nebraska, including Keith, Lincoln, and Red Willow counties, among others" (page 5).
