Book excerpt: This paper presents an investigation on the adsorption of different proteins on ZnO and TiO2 particles surface. Isotherms were prepared to study the adsorbent surface concentration at pH=5, pH=6.5 and pH=8. The isotherms showed that the adsorbent surface concentration is controlled mainly by hydrophobic affinity and electrostatic interaction between proteins and ZnO and TiO2. Different temperatures were also used in experiments. The results showed that reasonable higher temperature is a favorable factor which can help protein surface concentration on ZnO and TiO2. Protein adsorption was verified using SEM and TEM pictures. The effect of adsorption on protein's catalysis ability was also tested by comparing the change of urease's catalytic ability before and after adsorption.
