Subsequent to her marriage in July 1971, the school board which employed her as an art teacher ... indicated she had to either legally 'change' her name to her 'maiden name' or use her husband's name. Thereupon Kathleen Harney petitioned the court to 'change' her name from Kathleen Rose Kruzel (her husband's surname) to Kathleen Rose Harney (the name by which she in fact had always been known) ...
