Book excerpt: Abstract: Immigrant victims of domestic violence face multiple barriers to seeking safety and accessing comprehensive intervention services to assist them in escaping the violence. Culturally appropriate transitional housing shelters are critical resources that can provide safe housing and a complex array of supportive services necessary for immigrant survivors' transition into a life safe from domestic violence. The purpose of this project was to write a grant proposal to develop a two-year transitional housing shelter to address the needs of female immigrant victims of domestic violence. Through culturally tailored and linguistically appropriate transitional housing and supportive services, the program is designed to improve the quality of life for the immigrant survivors and empower them to live self-sufficiently safer lives. Submission for funding of this grant proposal was not required for the successful completion of this grant project.
