In India, University extensions have grown with the literacy programmes in the form of eradication of illiteracy and also attempted to understand adult illiterates for their educational needs, their psychological processes, learning potential, reference point and readiness etc. But the changing scenario of the society and due to globalization, urbanization and privatization, the role of universities and extension activities need radical changes in their approaches.
